Where were you on that fateful day that changed America forever?
I can remember that I was on vacation at the Beach. Well, at least it WAS a vacation, until I heard about the terrorist attacks on New York City and the Pentagon. Then I and countless other people in America and all around the world (with the notable exception of some misguided cretins located in that cesspool we call the Middle East) were plunged into an agonizing ordeal, trying to cope with a truly sick, catastrophic act of terrorism that has irrevocably altered America and the rest of the world and our perceptions of that world forever.
I did not lose any loved ones, thanks be to God. But even so, I will never be the same again.
God help us all. We're going to need it. There's much, much more work to be done.

It was about 3 pm (yes, I'm from Europe) and I was sitting in my lab counting diatom samples when someone on the corridor mentioned that a plane hit the WTC. At first everybody thought it was an accident, probably involving a small plane like a cessna whose pilot had lost orientation. But when I got home two hours later, my boyfriend just dragged me into our appartment and in front of the tv. It was so unbelievable! I have lots of friends and relatives in the US and it took me a week to confirm that no one was involved.
